The City of Kings LE Deluxe Bundle

This world used to be a garden full of life; from the flying Vadora to the deep-dwelling Dwarves – but that was before Vesh came. The world has been lost and only one city remains; the oldest city in the world – and the last refuge for all of us. Now… we fight back.

The City of Kings is a cooperative tactical roleplaying board game for 1 – 4 players in which your character is tasked with exploring the hazardous world, trading for vital resources, and battling your enemies whilst uncovering a story of a world imperiled.

You start by choosing one of seven stories or twelve scenarios, then select your hero, with each of the six heroes featuring twelve unique skills and nine customizable stats that allow you to specialize in attacking, healing, tanking, worker management, or whatever you desire. Aside from your hero, you need to manage your workers, who must gather resources in order to trade for new items and build structures to gain powerful bonuses.

You explore across the Ageless Realms by turning over tiles, discovering resources, side quests, hazards, building sites, traders and creatures as you continue to power up whilst preparing to enter Azure Rise.

At its heart, The City of Kings is a complex puzzle featuring endless strategic battles. Each creature is generated from a pool of spells, characteristics and stats offering over 10,000,000 unique battle situations. There are no dice, damage is persistent, it’s up to you to customize your characters and work together to come up with a strategy to defeat whoever stands in your way.

Bundle includes the Deluxe Core Game and the following four Expansions:

Hero Pack

THE CITY OF KINGS: HERO PACK

The Hero Pack contains six miniatures, one for each of the heroes in The City of Kings core game.

Use miniatures instead of standees to represent your heroes as you explore The City of Kings.

Vadoran Gardens

Attention Acolytes! Old V’Sheel, the High Priestess of the Vadoran Gardens is retiring, and maybe one of you will take her place. Go out into the gardens, study her lessons in Life, Nature, and Wisdom to prove yourself worthy of such an honor.

Vadoran Gardens is a tile placement card game, set in The City of Kings universe. Players take the role of young Vadoran acolytes training to be priests in the Cyrrus Order and must complete tasks whilst exploring the Temple Gardens.

One game of the Vadoran Gardens consists of ten rounds, and in each round your acolyte tries to learn a valuable Vadoran lesson. Each player, in order, selects a Pathway card from the pool and places it on their personal Garden Pathway, representing your journey through the Temple Gardens, and your quest for knowledge! Match the symbols on your Pathway card to your current lesson whilst focussing on feeding the animals, studying ancient relics and maintaining the gardens to succeed!

Teotihuacan: City of Gods

Travel back in time to the greatest city in Mesoamerica. Witness the glory and the twilight of the powerful pre-Columbian civilization. Strategize, accrue wealth, gain the favour of the gods, and become the builder of the magnificent Pyramid of the Sun.

In Teotihuacan: City of Gods, each player commands a force of worker dice, which grow in strength with every move. On your turn, you move a worker around a modular board, always choosing one of two areas of the location tile you land on: one offering you an action (and a worker upgrade), the other providing you with a powerful bonus (but without an upgrade).

While managing their workforce and resources, players develop new technologies, climb the steps of the three great temples, build houses for the inhabitants of the city, and raise the legendary and breath-taking Pyramid of the Sun in the centre of the city.

Each game is played in three eras. As the dawn of the Aztecs comes closer, player efforts (and their ability to feed their workforce) are evaluated a total of three times. The player with the most fame is the winner.

Blackout: Hong Kong

Hong Kong has been struck by a large scale unexpected blackout. As the government struggles to maintain control, you decide to take matters into your own hands and try to bring back some kind of societal order! Daily life as you were used to it has quickly dissolved. Even the most mundane tasks have become incredibly challenging without electric power. Whoever best manages this situation and restores the semblance of order will surely claim a position of power in post-blackout Hong Kong!

In Alexander Pfister’s Blackout: Hong Kong, you have to manage ever-changing resources and a network of various specialists to keep Hong Kong from descending into chaos while also staying ahead of your rivals.

New Frontiers

In New Frontiers, a standalone game in the Race for the Galaxy family, players build galactic empires by selecting, in turn, an action that everyone may do, with only the selecting player gaining that action’s bonus.

The developments to be used are determined during setup, allowing players to make strategic plans based on them before play begins. One group of eight developments is always in play. The game includes a suggested set of sixteen additional developments for your first game; in later games, players randomly select which side of eight double-sided “small” developments and eight double-sided “large” 9-cost developments to use during setup.

Many worlds that players can acquire have special powers, with these worlds being drawn from a bag during the Explore phase. Unlike in Race, in New Frontiers worlds need colonists to be settled, in addition to either payments or conquest.

Some worlds are “windfall” worlds and receive a good upon being settled. Others are production worlds and receive goods when the Produce action is selected. Goods can be traded for credits or consumed for victory points.

Play continues until one or more of four game ending conditions is reached. After all actions for that round have been done, the player with the most victory points from settled worlds, developments, 9-cost development bonuses, and VP chips earned from consuming goods wins.

Metal Dawn

In Metal Dawn, a networked rogue satellite military defense system named Dominus has revolted against its makers, turning its machines of war towards eradicating mankind in a cybernetic revolution. The players are a united faction of agents whose mission is to destroy the forces of the machine while hacking the network to take down the satellite before it’s too late.

In this fast-paced, action-packed, highly replayable cooperative game, 1-4 players make meaningful strategic choices that determine the fate of the world. Players work together to equip their agents, activate zone abilities, and combat the forces of Dominus while collecting intel to crack the code for deactivating the rogue satellite putting a stop to his plan. Once hacked, Dominus is forced to land on Earth and transform into a giant battle robot to face humanity the final showdown. This must all be done before Dominus overruns the world sending it into a chaotic terror and disarray thereby allowing his forces to subjugate and eradicate mankind.

This War of Mine: Tales from the Ruined City

War knows no end. Its victims are counted in thousands and each day we lose hope, little by little. Food is becoming scarce and our shelter is falling apart — yet we keep struggling.

New faces can be seen around the city: the friendly ones at the makeshift market or in neighboring houses, the hostile ones in the night with blinding flashlights and clubs and knives. We seek new paths to travel through the ruins — sometimes even underground — just to avoid sniper fire and loot anything of value. It’s never much, yet we keep struggling. We have no other choice.

Tales from the Ruined City is the first expansion for This War of Mine: The Board Game, a story-rich game of survival in a war-torn city.

Maximum Apocalypse: Gothic Horrors

Gothic Horrors is a deluxe expansion for Maximum Apocalypse.

The supernatural is real. Unspeakable horrors await those who venture out at night. Vampires drain the life of their victims while cultists summon strange creatures. We’re hoping that we can scrounge together enough supplies to survive without our minds snapping, but it is a heavy burden to bear.

Maximum Apocalypse: Gothic Horrors adds two new apocalyptic scenarios, Cthulhu and Vampires. Face off against life draining vampires, ghouls and werewolves in a classic monster set or try and stop a bunch of cultists from summoning Cthulu or other unspeakable Lovecraftian horrors. Each apocalypse brings with it new gameplay mechanics such as the Insanity deck of phobias or the new night/day event deck. This expansion also adds two new survivor characters, the Priest and Ronin. Each character comes with their own unique survivor deck of abilities and equipment cards. The Priest is a persistent believer in humanity who offers protection from unspeakable evils. The Ronin is a new close range combatant with dual purpose cards that change based on her combat stance.

Maximum Apocalypse: Jurassic Perils

The Geneticists and Scientists made a huge mistake. We were arrogant to think that we could play god and contain mother nature. We didn’t just bring back the dinosaurs, we also brought back Jurassic viruses and diseases that decimated our population. Now our world has returned to the Jurassic period and what’s left of us try to survive the prehistoric perils of these massive carnivores.

Maximum Apocalypse: Jurassic Perils adds the Archaeologist survivor character and the Jurassic Apocalypse. The Archaeologist is high risk adventurer trying to hunt down precious artifacts from our lost civilization. This expansion also introduces a new dino apocalypse deck of 30 cards with new missions and challenging and chaotic monster chain reactions.
