Caverna: The Forgotten Folk

Caverna: The Forgotten Folk — Caverna: Vergessene Völker in German — originated as a fan project on BoardGameGeek, and Caverna publisher Lookout Games has decided to work with the designer to develop this material and release it as an official expansion.

Forgotten Folk consists of eight different species or race packs such as elves, dark elves, and trolls, and now each player in Caverna can be one of these species instead of only the dwarves in the base game. Each species has special advantages and disadvantages, and some species introduce new resources into the game. Each species has four unique rooms, and they replace rooms in the base game, which allows other players to gain the powers of these species.

Android: Shadow of the Beanstalk

In the not so-distant future, humanity has spread across the solar system, unlocked the frontiers of cyberspace, and created millions of intelligent androids in its own image. At the heart of this progress stands a ladder leading to the riches of the stars—the massive space elevator called the Beanstalk. And at its base sprawls the biggest, meanest, and most exciting city on Earth: New Angeles.

Shadow of the Beanstalk, an Android sourcebook for the Genesys Roleplaying System!

Enter a cyberpunk future and take on the roles of cops, con artists, roughnecks, and escaped androids trapped between greedy corporations, corrupt officials, and vicious street gangs. Outwit your foes, uncover their conspiracies, flee their retribution, and maybe you’ll survive. Who knows? Maybe you’ll even get rich…

Shadow of the Beanstalk is a 256-page sourcebook for use with the Genesys Roleplaying System. In this book, you’ll find new rules for character creation, new weapons, equipment, and adversaries, new rules for running the net, a guide to New Angeles, and advice for Game Masters running a campaign in the cyberpunk future of Android. Even better, all of this comes accompanied by beautiful art and elegant mechanics that can be used in any science-fiction setting for the Genesys Roleplaying System.

Journey: Wrath of Demons

In Journey: Wrath of Demons, a cooperative miniatures board game based on a classic Chinese novel, four Pilgrims band together to search ancient China for the Sutras, sacred scriptures that will bring salvation to a world overrun with Demons. After fighting different Bull Demon minions, the climax of the game is the battle against the Bull Demon King. Game cards and custom dice combine for fast, tense action and critical choices enhance the Pilgrims’ skills during the game.

Journey is designed for 1 to 4 players, each controlling one of the four Pilgrims: Tripitaka, Monkey, Monk Sha and Cho Hakkai. The game’s AI controls the Demons and other creatures. Diverse playing styles are possible, with a strong emphasis on cooperation because the players win or lose as a team. Each game will take 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the quest and the style you play.

The core game comes with ~10 quests, each with different goals and unique rules. Do you ruthlessly hack and slash, killing all demons in the Pilgrims’ path? Or take a more virtuous path, cleansing the demons’ souls, saving villagers and collecting good karma. Your decisions affect the Pilgrims’ abilities, skills and equipment. Killing demons may be quick but can you risk accumulating that bad karma? Side quests may enhance your Pilgrims’ skill and karma, but with more demons spawning, can you afford to spend that time?

Solo play is almost identical to multi-player games. Instead of multiple players controlling 1 or 2 pilgrims each, 1 player will control all four Pilgrims. There are no other changes to the game.

D&D: Vault of Dragons

In Vault of Dragons, players take the role of unsavory factions from the streets of Waterdeep, factions who have heard rumors of a hidden vault of gold under the city and are determined to locate it first.

In the game, players send followers to locations in Waterdeep to uncover rumors and treasure. Brawling with other factions to control key locations is to be expected, but beware the City Watch. Double-sided location tiles give players even more places to explore. Uncover the clues and enter the dungeons of the Undermountain to find the vault of dragons.
