Marvel Champions: The Galaxy’s Most Wanted (Available Friday, April 2nd)
I’ll tell you all something I’ve learned over the years with my friends. You can save the galaxy and take down scores. You can save millions of people by killing a few bad ones. You can do it all—you just gotta tell yourself, and believe it when you say it—”I’m the baddest mother@#$&#$ in the whole universe.”
–Rocket Raccoon, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1
Not every villain is content to contain their schemes to a single parochial planet—some have much more cosmic ambitions, unleashing their evil against the countless worlds of the galaxy. If you’re ready to leave Earth behind, it’s time to fuel up the Milano, grab that guy’s arm, and blast off for the stars!
It’s time to team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy and take your games of Marvel Champions onto the galactic stage. Within The Galaxy’s Most Wanted, you’ll find an entirely new campaign, with five distinct scenarios pitting you against Drang of the Brotherhood of Badoon, the Collector (featured in two separate scenarios), Nebula, and Ronan the Accuser. You can play each of these scenarios individually or bring them together in an epic campaign, and with seven modular sets, there are opportunities to mix up all of your other scenarios. What’s more, this campaign expansion also introduces the first Guardians of the Galaxy heroes to the game, with fully pre-built and ready-to-play hero decks for Groot and Rocket Racoon.
Many villains confine their criminal activities to Earth — but beyond our atmosphere, there’s a whole galaxy of strange civilizations, powerful artifacts, and unlikely heroes. Our galaxy is protected by the Guardians of the Galaxy, and when Earth’s Alpha Flight Station comes under attack by the Badoon, only the Guardians stand a chance of stopping the attack and uncovering the true motives behind it…
The Galaxy’s Most Wanted campaign expansion adds over 250 new cards to Marvel Champions: The Card Game. Rocket Racoon and Groot join the roster of heroes with fully pre-built and ready-to-play player decks stuffed with new cards. Whether they’re playing these new heroes or relying on old favorites, players can test their mettle against four brand-new villains: Drang of the Brotherhood of Badoon, the Collector (featured in two separate scenarios), Nebula, and Ronan the Accuser. Each of these five scenarios offers a unique challenge that can be played independently or as part of a larger campaign.
Take your battles against villainy to new heights with The Galaxy’s Most Wanted, the second campaign expansion for Marvel Champions: The Card Game
Stuffed Fables: Oh, Brother! (Available Friday, April 2nd)
The brave stuffies from Stuffed Fables return for another round of bedtime adventures! Years after the original story, a new baby brother joins the family, bringing two toy companions of his own: Pokey the unicorn, a stalwart stuffy, and the muscular Manny, a headstrong hand-me-down action figure. With a sweet little boy to protect from the forces of the Fall, Pokey and Manny must learn the ropes from the beloved original cast and face a slate of new monsters from under the bed!
The Stuffed Fables: Oh, Brother! expansion includes a new storybook, with new challenges, enemies, and fables, along with new tokens, sleep cards, and its own discovery deck to lead you through each unique adventure, but you will need components from the Stuffed Fables base game in order to play.
In addition to everything else, Pokey the Unicorn and Manny the Action Figure join the cast, adding their unique abilities to the team. Pokey doesn’t equip any weapon items, but instead uses her Puffy Horn to fend off enemies. Manny, as a macho action figure, is made of strong plastic instead of the usual stuffing of other characters, so certain status conditions don’t affect him as they would a typical stuffy.
Can you protect your little boy from the dangers of the supernatural fall?
Keepers of the Questar (Available Friday, April 2nd)
The enigmatic Quest Masters of Arbandy left many mysterious quests in their wake but the most coveted of all is an unrivaled treasure known as the Questar. Tavern tales and oracles of old have said that mortal artistry pales in comparison to the Questar’s beauty.
Now competing parties of adventurers have formed to take on the Quest Masters’ quests and become the Keepers of the Questar…..They are inviting you to embark on this journey and collect the Questar for you very own! But beware, hidden dangers lurk within dungeons encumbered by traps and monsters; ready to destroy the unwary adventurer! Traps and monsters can be exposed, but can you avoid them all?
This is a 1 vs 1 dungeon crawler. You will play as both the Adventurer and Quest Master as you face off against your opponent in a race to be the first to compete your opponent’s designed map.
The game is played between two opponents, each maintaining a secret map with plotted locations (traps, monsters, etc.). Players alternate moving their explorer units on the board, encountering obstacles as they progress. Tokens, dice, and cards are used to resolve conflict situations. The first player to locate and obtain the opponent’s Questar wins.
Dominant Species: Marine (Available Now!)
Sixty-Something Millions of Years Ago — A great ice age has ended. With massive warming altering the globe, another titanic struggle for supremacy has unwittingly commenced between the varying animal species.
Dominant Species: Marine is a game that abstractly recreates a small portion of ancient history: the ending of an onerous ice age and what that entails for the living creatures trying to adapt to the slowly-changing earth.
Each player will assume the role of one of four major aquatic-based animal classes — reptiles, fish, cephalopod or crustacean. Each begins the game more or less in a state of natural balance in relation to one another. But that won’t last: It is indeed “survival of the fittest.”
Through wily action pawn placement, you will attempt to thrive in as many different habitats as possible in order to claim powerful card effects. You will also want to propagate your individual species in order to earn victory points for your animal. You will be aided in these endeavors via speciation, migration and adaptation actions, among others.
All of this eventually leads to the end game – the final ascent of a vast tropical ocean and its shorelines – where the player having accumulated the most victory points will have their animal crowned the Dominant Species.
But somebody better become dominant quickly, because there’s a large asteroid heading this way….
Ashes Reborn: Rise of the Phoenixborn (Available Now!)
In Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn, a two-player expandable card game, players take on the roles of Phoenixborns, demi-gods and protectors of this world. These characters are the great saviors of their civilizations. Before they came into existence, the humans were plagued by monsters like chimeras that took away their lands and forced them to live in walled-off cities. When the Phoenixborns came, they fought off the chimeras and freed the lands for humans to take over once again.
But the time of peace was short-lived. A prophecy arose that if one Phoenixborn was able to absorb enough Ashes of others, they would ascend into full gods and take mastery over this world. This, as well as humans’ greed for land, fueled the War of Ashes. The great cities now fight among each other, each one of them with a Phoenixborn at its helm, and you will decide who will rise and who will fall to ashes.
Ashes Reborn: Rise of the Phoenixborn, released in 2021, features the same Phoenixborn as in the original Ashes with the same cards, but some cards have been modified to balance them. (Publisher Plaid Hat Games estimates that about 30% of all cards across all expansions are being modified.) The rules have undergone a few changes as well, mostly to clarify powers. The Ashes Reborn 1.5 Upgrade Kit contains more than 350+ updated Ashes cards, along with an updated rulebook, allowing players to move from the original game to the new 1.5 rules.
MTG: Challenger Decks (Available Friday, April 2nd)
The latest Challenger Decks release brings updated approaches to start playing Standard with strategies ready to succeed.
Four different 75-card decks—each featuring a different strategy—are ready to play out of the box wherever the Standard challenge awaits. Each Challenger Deck comes with a complete 60-card main deck and a 15-card sideboard, plus five double-sided tokens that you’ll want to have on hand when you head into battle.
These decks are intended to be playable and competitive at a local level, ready to challenge friends and foes alike. All cards will have been previously printed in Standard and are Standard-legal.
SLA Industries RPG 2E (Available Now!)
SLA Industries (pronounced “Slay Industries”) is an award-winning pen-and-paper role-playing game that was first published in Scotland in 1993. The game is a horror noir science-fiction setting set in a dystopian reality in which the majority of the known universe is either owned or indirectly controlled by the eponymous corporation SLA Industries. The game incorporates themes from the cyberpunk, gothic horror and conspiracy genres, and has always been praised on the quality of writing and art. The World of Progress, the universe in which SLA Industries operates, is a science-fiction image of the 1980s, where the fax machine spews out information alongside green-screen computers and vat-grown biogenetic monsters, who compete with humans and exotic alien races for work in an overgrown city that plunges deep underground. Players in SLA Industries take on the role of an Operative, the highly-trained and well-equipped freelancers that serve as the company’s agents, investigators and enforcers. Operatives perform tasks for both a pay packet and the promise of an increase in their security clearance, as both provide them access to an increased standard of living, better equipment, progression up the corporate ladder and sponsorship opportunities. Most of all though, they strive for the one thing that everyone in the media-driven World of Progress wants: Notoriety.
