The good news is you don’t have to wait that long to get your hands on them, as The Wandering Dragon will be selling Sword & Shield—Chilling Reign Build & Battle Boxes starting June 5. It’s an exciting opportunity to give the expansion a sneak peek before its official release and even build a playable deck in the fast-paced Prerelease format.

It’s a perfect opportunity to dive into the expansion by playing some quick matches and begin developing strategies ahead of the expansion’s release. Each Build & Battle Box includes a 23-card Evolution pack featuring key cards from current and prior sets, including one of four unique foil promo cards. Welcome ashore! Merchants Cove is a highly asymmetrical eurogame where each player assumes the role of a different fantasy merchant with a unique shop. The merchants contend to sell their goods to the arriving adventurers at the cove’s piers—the most famous markets in the Five Realms. Each player uses their own set of role-specific components and gameplay mechanisms to produce their goods, increase their shop’s efficiency, and—most importantly—get rich!

Though the merchants work independently in their specialized shops, they compete against each other to attract customers, influence the demands for goods, and secure sponsorships from the four faction halls. To get an edge, merchants can employ local townsfolk to work in their shops as staff. Or if they dare to cut corners, they can gain leverage from the corrupt lair of rogues—but at what cost? Winter Kingdom (Available Now!)

Winter Kingdom features seven, double-sided hexagonal map tiles that are randomly arranged into the playing area. After that, three scoring conditions, one economy card (showing how players earn money), and one twist card are dealt, giving the unique features of the game. Each player is dealt five ability cards and one terrain card.

On your turn, you must place three houses in the terrain depicted on your terrain card. If possible, you must place the houses next to previously placed houses. (If not possible, they may be placed anywhere that matches the terrain on the card.) You also start the game with a limited number of forts, which can replace any house and which count as two pieces.

After placing houses, you may use your gold to make one purchase, either paying the cost to put one ability card into play or paying an additional cost on a previously placed ability to upgrade it. Once purchased, the ability may be used once per turn for the rest of the game. You start the game with a little gold to buy abilities and can earn more gold based on the economy card in play for that game.

The game ends once one player is out of both houses and forts. Players score based on the criteria of the scoring cards for that game; in addition, whoever has the most houses next to each castle scores 3 additional points. The player with the most points wins.

Happy Little Dinosaurs (Available Now!)

Lately, it feels like we’re all just dinosaurs trying to avoid the falling meteors. In this game, you’ll try to dodge all of life’s little disasters. You might fall into a pit of hot lava or get ghosted by your dino date, but the dino who survives it all wins the game!

In Happy Little Dinosaurs, the first person to reach 50 points, or be the last Dinosaur standing, wins the game! During each round, you’ll flip a Disaster card featuring a Natural, Predatory, or Emotional disaster. Each player will play a Point card in hopes of collecting points and avoiding the disaster.

You will work to avoid all of life’s little disasters and laugh as they happen to your friends. If you collect 3 Disaster cards of the same type OR 3 different types of Disaster cards, you will be out of the game. Point cards feature weapons, trinkets, and good luck charms that you use to collect points and avoid disasters. Each card has a point value between 0 and 9 that you will use when scoring a round. You can use Instant cards at different points during the game to tip the odds in your favor or save your Dinosaur from certain death.

Player boards include your Dinosaur’s traits, an Escape Route you use to track your score, and a Disaster Area where you will collect Disaster cards. You’ll move your Dinosaur meeple along the Excape Route on your player board to track your score. Will you successfully dodge the disasters or get eaten by a prehistoric whale? Only the cards can decide.


The Butterfly Garden 2E (Available Now!)

Help save endangered butterflies! Construction projects in your city are disrupting the natural butterfly habitat. Capture butterflies and deliver them to protected butterfly gardens in local zoos, botanical gardens, and museums.

The game is played in a series of rounds. Players start each round by playing a card from their hands to determine the round’s turn order. Cards are numbered from 0 to 59, and lower numbered cards go first. On a turn, a player captures butterflies from the field and adds them to the jar. When possible, players “deliver butterflies” from their jars to the different butterfly gardens to score victory points (VPs). Which butterflies can be delivered is indicated on the face-up “delivery cards” and players are often in a race to deliver butterflies to take the cards and score points. The player with the most VPs at the end of the game wins.

During the game, players must carefully decide which butterfly cards to play. By playing lowered numbered cards, players not only get a better pick of butterflies in the field, but they also get first chance at delivering butterflies. However, lower numbered butterfly cards usually have fewer butterflies on them, so players cannot add as many to their jars. Also, butterfly cards with special powers usually have high numbers, so you often must sacrifice turn order in order to use one of these special powers.

In this second edition, the artwork and components have been upgraded. A major rule change is a new set-collection aspect of the delivery cards. There are now 4 types of delivery cards and players score a bonus for having a variety. Also, there are some minor rule changes with scoring butterflies in one’s hand and jar at game end. Another small change is in the special powers on some of the cards.

The maximum number of players in the second edition was lowered to 5 from 6.


Wakening Lair: The Dark Forest (Available Now!)

In Wakening Lair: The Dark Forest, 1-6 players must cooperate against overwhelming odds to rid a classic fantasy themed dark and spooky forest of its assorted ne’er-do-well monsters and haunts. Should they succeed, songs will be sung of their noble exploits for generations to come. If they fail, then the Dark Forest’s evil will spread across the realm.

Wakening Lair: The Dark Forest is a 1-6 player fully cooperative dungeon delve which plays in 45-60 minutes. Each player assumes one of nine heroes forming a party which must explore the forest disturbing and vanquishing its denizens. As they do, they’ll receive treasure in the form of weapons and magic items. Eventually, one of six monstrous terrors will awaken and try to escape the dark forest. Victory is achieved by defeating it before that happens!

Wakening Lair: The Dark Forest is a standalone sequel to the original Wakening Lair and the components of both games can be swapped for unique and new game combinations.

Bug Hunt (Available Now!)

In Bug Hunt, players want to collect matching bugs to complete their collection.

At the start of the game, they construct the bug shrub and fill it with all manner of bugs. Then, they reach in through the shrub’s tunnel opening to try to grab theirs — but they have to watch out for the other players’ bugs as well as the white ones, who are known to bite any hand that tries to grab them. The first player to finish their collection wins.
