That is great news guys. Congrats!
The long awaited store is coming! Can’t wait for opening day! The logo looks really great!! Congratulations!!
So happy for the three of you! Yeah!!
I am very happy for all of you. I can’t wait to see the place. Let me know if you need help setting things up. I am more than happy to come by and shelve games or sweep or maybe open some new games and learn them. You know whatever! Congrats!
Congratulations! This is a total surprise. Let me me know if you need and help.
As I was driving through downtown Plainfield this morning, I saw the sign for your upcoming store, an I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to see a game shop is coming to Plainfield! I’m a fan of many types of board, card, and dice games, as well as a game creator myself. The prospect of having a place in my hometown to game with others and pick up new games is thrilling! Can’t wait to stop in and help build a dedicated group of Wandering Dragon enthusiasts!
What do you play? I intend to bring Pandemic and 7 Wonders to the table as well as other favorites.
I’m an eclectic gamer, but I lean toward mid-range strategy games (I love FFG and games like Small World).
I haven’t played Pandemic but I own its sister game, Forbidden Island, and the family loves it. 7 Wonders is brilliant. Love me some deck builders like Dominion, Ascension, or Rune Age.
Most recently, I played a 3 player game of Epic Spell Wars and had a BLAST!
The owners are big Dominion fans and 7 Wonders fans. You’ll be right at home at this store. If you like Forbidden Island, you and the family will love pamdemic. The expansion called On the Brink is a must have for the game too. When the store opens, I intend to demo pandemic and hopefully hole a tournament.
Did I hear someone say Ascension? That’s my cue to come in. 🙂 Hi Scorp! We are just as excited as you are for this store’s opening day. It’s about time there is a Game Store by our neighborhood. I will definitely see you out there and hope to play some Ascension, 7 Wonders, or whatever game hits the table. See you there too Bob!! Looking forward to some great gaming in July and beyond at the Dragon!!
Such a tease… 😉 Keep em rolling!! =D
Looking forward to it. When do the doors open?
This is fantastic news! I have had the first edition for years, but despite how great it is, it never hits the table because of how overwhelming and bulky it is. Can’t wait to visit the Dragon and take a look at the “refined” version!! Great news for your fledgling shop!
I may have to take that Banners of War expansion off your hands. Haven’t seen a store yet that had it in stock!
Cool! Great to see events already coming!
We’re looking forward to your store open! My name is Lee and I help run a gaming club near your neck of the woods. http://www.meetup.com/Chicago-S-SW-Suburban-Gaming-RPG-Meetup-Group/
I’d love to steer as much traffic in your direction as I can. We’d be happy to help fill in your event calendar too 😉 Looking forward to meeting you all soon.
Nice! Better than I imagined!
Looks great! I was just mentioning to my wife that you should have a sign like that by Lockport street. She said that people would probably mistake it for a bar… (haha).
Wow!! Thanks for the preview!! Congrats Laura, Kevin and Elias!! I think I left my jaw at the entrance. I’ll be picking it up tomorrow… Good stuff!! Looking forward to great gaming at the Dragon!
Just got back from the store! Congrats! Opening my purchases now . . .
Very nice store and attention to detail throughout! What a welcome addition to the town. Lots of newer titles and plenty of space to play!
Like to see Bob sporting the Wandering Dragon wear
Sorry, I missed it! From the pictures everything looks great. I really like the street sign! Nice touch.
Thank you for opening (10 minutes away according to my GPS)!! Great store ran by some great people!! Kids were sad you guys are closed today, hehe… The wife and I shared their sentiments… We were forced to actually do house chores. =(
It was an interesting game, to be sure. The Drow got spanked all over the place, even with the copper dragon falling early. That dragon knight being backed up by both the dwarven defender and the dwarven cleric was really pretty unstoppable! It was fun for me to watch, considering I have yet to play 4th edition D&D rules.
We’ll be there tonight! Woohoo!
The nice thing about this game is that it is nothing like 4th Edition D&D it is nothing like any of the D&D system because of the no dice mechanic and the cards are your orders. All the Demo’s I have run have had the Drow the winners over Cormyr. We will see how things play out as the game gets more play.
So jealous I couldn’t make it!
If you own a copy of the game, please bring it if possible.
Are trainmaker and Roll for It on boardgamegeek? I’d love to take a look at our local game designer’s work!
Just checked..they both are on BGG. Both look like fast, fun, interesting dice rolling games.
Will there be a list of auction items posted prior to the event?
Hmmm…. Sounds like a great idea! Yes, as sellers bring in their stuff, we can post a list of auction items. 🙂

The first list of auction items has been posted. Please see the link at the top of the auction info… Thx!
Oh man…or if you’re coming to this a bit late, there’s a pile to wade through!

The URL doesn’t work. Says there is no website at that address.
Thanks Jax, They had mentioned to us a few weeks ago that they were going to be doing some site maintenance soon. The URL is correct so we’re guessing that is what’s going on right now…
Just a quick update… Lamb’s Fold is working with their webmaster to restore their website. Unfortunately, they do not yet have an ETA.
Finally! Their site is now under construction but at least its working and you can see some of their info.
Who can I have my sponsors write a check out to?
Checks should be made out to “Lamb’s Fold Center for Women & Children”. Thanks! 🙂
The site seems to be down again. Are we able to sign up at the store?
My first comment did not seem to stick.
The website appears to be down again. Are we able to sign up at the store?
We are asking each participant attending the Serious Fun event at the Wandering Dragon to raise at least $100.00 and RSVP at our Meetup. Folks that would still like to be part of Serious Fun by gaming at another location can participate by raising $50.00. Donations for Serious Fun should be made through the Serious Fun / Lamb’s Fold link on our website. Thank you!
Hi Bug – So sorry, we just figured out what you meant. We have confirmed the First Giving site is down. We had thought you meant the Lambs Fold site as they have recently had some difficulties with their page as well. I checked their facebook page and it looks like its been down for about 13 hours. I’m guessing their servers were somehow affected by the snow storm yesterday. While their site is down, we can collect cash / check donations and then enter them online once the site is back up. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks for letting us know!!!
First Giving’s site is back up and the links are working again. Thank you!

Glad your event was a success, the proceeds go for such a worthy cause and your dedication to helping the organization is commendable.

Also, should have mentioned above, pre-orders are not limited to the items in GTM. If you are aware of upcoming titles that are not listed here, just let us know and we’ll order it for you. Thanks!
Excellent review Steve. Ginkopolis has been a winner with me and my groups as well.

Our best wishes and congratulatins to Elias on this milestone.
Woo Hoo! Congrats Elias!!
Congratulations, Wandering Dragon, and high hopes for the years to come!
Congratulations guys! The Wandering Dragon is a special place and I miss it all the time. While we have six game stores down here in Austin, none of them have that special feel that you guys bring. Good luck on the move! Bryan, Angela & Sam
Thanks Bryan! We miss you and you’re family too! If you’re ever up this way, we hope you stop by the new place to say hi. 🙂
Best of luck in your new digs…keep us posted on when and where it will happen and if you will need any help moving!
Thank you!!! If you have any expert advice based on your move, we’re all ears. 🙂
I know not what you are speaking of………
I’m out, I’m out!!!!
No no no! Put that there, put THAT there!!!
Hope everything works out OK Kevin and Laura!
Please reserve 2 b-wings, 2 bombers and 1 of each of the others for me. Thanks.
Welcome back and congratulations!
*slow clap from back of auditorium*
That should read April 19th not 9th
Thanks Bob. Yeah, it looks confusing. The 9th is the date the announcement was posted. The details correctly show the tournament on the 19th. We’ll see if we can find a way to supress the publish date so that it doesn’t mess anyone up. Thx!
Jeff and I like Ginkgopolis. We have played it as a 2-player game. We have also played it (I think) as a 4-player game with my game group. I’d like to get my group well versed in this game because it has a lot of strategy. Thanks for doing the review. Thanks to the Dragon for posting reviews now as well.
thanks for taking care of us Kevin!!! My 13 yo daughter and I had fun and made new friend. (and spent too much money!!!)
This will be crazy fun.
Awesome! Did the game mats/boards show up too?
Sadly, no playmats yet.
That is so cool!
Loved working with your incredible game shoppe! Can’t wait to hear about your successes!
My wife and I had a great time, playing this game. Its pretty easy to pick up largely in part due to the apps aid. I picked up everything this is out for the game and will be coming on Thursdays.
Will you be open Sunday, Sept 7th? That’s the only day I’m in town…
Hi Ares! Thank you for asking and for your interest in helping. It is greatly appreciated! Unfortunately, Sunday is the one day of week that we are closed. We were seriously thinking of opening on Sunday, but after the emotionally and physically exhausting day yesterday we just could not do it. Please do not think that this is in any way a sign of our lack of dedication to The Wandering Dragon and its success. The decision to stay closed on Sunday was a tough one, but since day one we decided as a family that we needed as least one day a week to rest and recharge, and be together as a family. We are at the shoppe, 70-80 hours/six days a week and not complaining at all, but after the wild day yesterday, I doubt we would have been able to make it thirteen days straight. Thanks again!!!
It was great to visit again, and shop! It’s always a pleasure, it’s just hard to get out especially with my new job.
I was wondering if having us put pressure/ call write the city of Plainfield might help at all? I know they’re already letting you do it in two parts, but I was wondering if you think that could help more.
Also, since you’re improving the shop, this expenditure should go towards the lease to own agreement in my mind- this should be giving you credit with your landlord.
I made a Geeklist on the Geek about you guys, hopefully that gets the word out too. It’s called Saving a lovely FLGS (Friendly Local Game Store) by Dizzy_Drizzit .
Best of luck!
I’m so glad this has worked out. You have a unique site and a very loyal customer and fan base. Long live the Dragon!
This is Awsome, now my son will have someplace to play
I have expensive tastes.
Will be there for Firestorm Armada on Sat Jan 3
Hope you have a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!
Would totally go if I lived anywhere close 🙂
…this looks amazing. I can’t wait to look at it.
Already have it and ready to play!

Where/how do accomplish the aforementioned pre-ordering…?
Hi Chris! Thanks for asking. You can preorder by stopping in, calling us at (815) 267-6245 or shooting us an email at info@WanderingDragon.com. Thanks!
I’m new to your site, so maybe that explains it, but I can’t seem to find a way to pre-order Batman Fluxx, & get the Two-Faced card and Batman coin?
Hi David! Sorry, we should have mentioned it in our post. Please feel free to stop in, give us a call at (815) 267-6245 or send us an email at info@WanderingDragon.com. Thanks for asking!
Thanks for the help! I don’t live anywhere close, so I’ll call tomorrow (Tuesday). 🙂
Came tonight to play AAOU clix – store was closed. Event system lists 8/1. 🙁
I checked WES and I do see the event incorrectly listed as 8/1. I’m not sure how this happens but sometimes the event dates and times automatically change due to a systems glitch in WES. For this reason, in our WES event, we also include a link to our Meetup event listing and ask everyone to RSVP on Meetup so they have the most up to date event information. I apologize for the confusion this has caused and I hope you can make it out this Saturday, 8/8 for the AAOU #3. Also, I know it does not help you now but for future reference, we always post our store closings on our Website, Facebook and Meetup. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

When will you guys announce if you have one your Black Friday sale – I only come to your store that day and want to figure out what to load up on early. 🙂
Hi Kris! Sorry we didn’t see this sooner. We announced last night the info for our Black Friday and Saturday special. 🙂 Just want to make sure you knew. Thanks!!! Black Friday and Saturday info
And Happy Thanksgiving!
Okay, seriously: can you set aside a copy of Firelfy Fluxx for me? I have to wait until after Easter to pick it up, though (side-job bringing in extra cash)

Love your store. I’ll purchase all my future board games here from now on.
This is pretty much what I figured went on…
My spouse Don is interested in Days of Ire. Would it be possible to pay for a copy remotely (perhaps with a phone call) via credit card, and have it held for pickup this weekend? We’d prefer to support our local game store instead of ordering this title online from someplace else, but would rather not make the drive up to Plainfield only to find the game already sold out.
Thank you Catherine! Your support is very much appreciated. We only have one copy so yes, if you’d like to pay over the phone to reserve it, we can do that. Just give us a call at the store at your earliest convenience. Our number is (815) 267-6245. Thanks again! – Kevin
Happy Easter to you and your family!
Thank you Marilyn! To you and yours too! 🙂
Are we going to resume this? We didn’t finish and I was hoping to get all of the coins, bag and promo card and shield.
This place is awesome
Congrats on your new venture–much success
