LE On Mars Bundle (Rental Available)

Following the success of unmanned rover missions, the United Nations established the Department of Operations and Mars Exploration (D.O.M.E.). The first settlers arrived on Mars in the year 2037 and in the decades after establishment Mars Base Camp, private exploration companies began work on the creation of a self-sustaining colony. As chief astronaut for one of these enterprises, you want to be a pioneer in the development of the biggest, most advanced colony on Mars by achieving both D.O.M.E. mission goals as well as your company’s private agenda.

In the beginning, you will be dependent on supplies from Earth and will have to travel often between the Mars Space Station and the planet’s surface. As the colony expands over time, you will shift your activities to construct mines, power generators, water extractors, greenhouses, oxygen factories, and shelters. Your goal is to develop a self-sustaining colony independent of any terrestrial organization. This will require understanding the importance of water, air, power, and food — the necessities for survival.

Do you dare take part in humankind’s biggest challenge?

On Mars is played over several rounds, each consisting of two phases – the Colonization Phase and the Shuttle Phase.

During the Colonization Phase, each player takes a turn during which they take actions. The available actions depend on the side of the board they are on. If you are in orbit, you can take blueprints, buy and develop technologies, and take supplies from the Warehouse. If you are on the surface of the planet, you can construct buildings with your bots, upgrade these buildings using blueprints, take scientists and new contracts, welcome new ships, and explore the planet’s surface with their rover. In the Shuttle Phase, players may travel between the colony and the Space Station in orbit.

All buildings on Mars have a dependency on each other and some are required for the colony to grow. Building shelters for Colonists to live in requires oxygen; generating oxygen requires plants; growing plants requires water; extracting water from ice requires power; generating power requires mining minerals; and mining minerals requires Colonists. Upgrading the colony’s ability to provide each of these resources is vital. As the colony grows, more shelters are needed so that the Colonists can survive the inhospitable conditions on Mars.

During the game, players are also trying to complete missions. Once a total of three missions have been completed, the game ends. To win the game, players must contribute to the development of the first colony on Mars. This is represented during the game by players gaining Opportunity Points (OP). The player with the most OP at the end of the game is declared the winner.

Barrage (Rental Available)

In the dystopic 1930s, the industrial revolution pushed the exploitation of fossil-based resources to the limit, and now the only thing powerful enough to quench the thirst for power of the massive machines and of the unstoppable engineering progress is the unlimited hydroelectric energy provided by the rivers.

Barrage is a resource management strategic game in which players compete to build their majestic dams, raise them to increase their storing capacity, and deliver all the potential power through pressure tunnels connected to the energy turbines of their powerhouses.

Each player represents one of the four international companies who are gathering machinery, innovative patents and brilliant engineers to claim the best locations to collect and exploit the water of a contested Alpine region crossed by rivers.

Barrage includes two innovative and challenging mechanisms. First, the players must carefully plan their actions and handle their machinery, since both their action tokens and resources are stored on a Construction Wheel and will only be available after a full turn of the wheel. The better you manage your wheel, the earlier your resources and actions come back to you.

Second, the water flow on the rivers depicted on the board is a shared and contested resource. Players have to intercept and store as much of the water as they can, build dams (upstream dams are expensive but can block part of the water before it reaches the downstream dams), raise the dams to increase their capacity, and build long tunnels to channel the water to their powerhouses. Water is never consumed — its flow is just used to produce energy —, it is instead released back to the rivers, so you have to strategically place your dams to recover the water diverted by you and the other players.

Over five rounds, the players must fulfill power requirements represented by a common competitive power track and meet specific requests of personal contracts. At the same time, by placing a limited number of engineers, they attempt to enhance their machinery to acquire new and more efficient construction actions and to build and activate special unique-effect buildings to forward their own developing strategy.

Barrage: The Leeghwater Project

The Leeghwater Project Expansion adds:

A new faction, the Netherlands, that uses Jan Leeghwater’s expertise in water management, adding even more water to your dams.

The External Works mechanic, a set of powerful tiles that can be obtained from a new action space. With them you’ll be able to perform many actions, but be careful. To unlock the External Works power you’ll need to burn the required amount of Concrete Mixers and Excavators rather than just assign them to the Construction Wheel.

The Personal Building mechanics. You’ll be able to use a combination of five Building tiles, each one with a different, powerful effect that can be activated by your engineers.

Two new Executive Officers designed to enhance the External Works and the Personal Buildings.

Three new Advanced Technology tiles dedicated to the construction of Personal Buildings.

Res Arcana: Lux et Tenebrae

In a dark cathedral, a mage harnesses the power of demons to enhance her spells. In an alchemical laboratory, a diviner inscribes a scroll of destruction. Meanwhile, a bard and beastmaster seek out the prismatic dragon and golden lion to keep these forces of darkness at bay.

Res Arcana: Lux et Tenebrae adds 4 new Places of Power, 12 artifacts, 4 mages, 4 monuments, and 2 magic items to Res Arcana. It also extends the game to five players, adds scaling rules for fewer players, and introduces two new things: scrolls and demons.

The Fox in the Forest Duet

In the innovative, two-player co-operative trick-taking game The Fox in the Forest Duet, players team up, helping each other move through the forest.

Work together to play tricks and move through the forest. Use the special abilities of the characters to exchange cards with each other, to let your teammate follow with any card, and more. Win as a team by collecting all the gems, but be careful to stay on the path and not get lost in the forest!

Bees: The Secret Kingdom

Bees: The Secret Kingdom is family game based on Bees topic. In the game players will chose between creating a honey card, or play a flower card to get pollen tokens. This simple game has 2 modes, first one for families and younger players, and second, advanced one, for adult.

The basic rules are really simple – players can draw two Gathering cards and play one of them or make Honey using their gathered Resources. Playing Gathering cards grants all the players with acryl Resources tokens, but the player who was using this card will gain the greatest benefit. Despite the small cooperative touch, this is a fully competitive game and only the player who gains the most points wins.

A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game – Targaryen Starter Set

Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen rules her khalasar as Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea. Her influence and skill have made her one of the most powerful women in the world. No other faction boasts so many skilled cavalry, made even more so by Khal Drogo’s inspiring leadership on the battlefield. Ser Jorah Mormont, the banished lord from Westeros, lends western steel to their cause. And Illyrio Mopatis can be relied upon to tip the scales with a touch of gold or a subtle threat. While Daenerys Targaryen’s Dothraki may appear as little more than savages to western eyes, underestimating them is the last thing a foolish lord will do.

The Targaryen Starter Set introduces a new house to A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game.

A Song of Fire & Ice: Tabletop Miniatures Game – Neutral Stormcrow Mercenaries

With war happening regularly in Westeros, certain groups have formed around the idea of selling their armed services to anyone who can pay their price.

The Stormcrow Mercenaries are one such group. This unit has moderate stats, but is a perfect addition for players who like Unit Attachments, as their special rules let them take one for fewer points than usual.

A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game – Neutral Stormcrow Archers

The unrest in Westeros has created a large market for men willing to sell their services to any House willing to pay.

The Stormcrow Archers unit box gives commanders a dedicated ranged attack unit for their forces. Their Longbow attacks can be used to thin out enemy ranks from a distance. Being mercenaries has also made them thrifty, receiving a one point discount on one Unit Attachment that commanders assign to them.

Arkham Horror: The Card Game – Dark Side of the Moon: Mythos Pack

“All life is only a set of pictures in the brain, among which there is no difference betwixt those born of real things and those born of inward dreamings…” –H. P. Lovecraft, “The Silver Key”

Embark on a dangerous rescue mission in Dark Side of the Moon, the third Mythos Pack in “The Dream-Eaters” cycle for Arkham Horror: The Card Game! After the man who may hold the key to escaping the Dreamlands is taken by dangerous Corsairs, you follow to a dead world where danger is waiting around every corner. But will you be able to rescue your charge and escape without raising the alarm?

Dark Side of the Moon can be played on its own in Standalone Mode or combined with the other expansions in “The Dream-Eaters” cycle to form a larger four-part or eight-part campaign. After the events of The Search for Kadath, the investigators in the Dreamlands are drawn even further from the world of the waking than they could have ever thought when Virgil Gray is taken to the cold, distant moon and you have no choice but to follow in the hopes of rescuing him. You must remain even quieter in order to stay hidden long enough to rescue Virgil and escape.

Caylus 1303

A classic game is back! As one of the first worker placement games, Caylus stands among the true board game classics of the 2000s. The original designers’ team, together with the Space Cowboys, have now created a revamped version!

The mechanisms of Caylus 1303 have been streamlined and modernized for an intense and shorter game. Don’t be fooled, though, as the game has kept both its depth and ease of play while a lot of new features have been added:

  • Variability of the starting position for a virtual infinity of possibilities. No more pre-set strategies!
  • Characters with special abilities, with a wavering loyalty, offer their services to the players.
  • And of course, brand new graphics!

The King calls you again, so it’s time to go back to Caylus!

Terraforming Mars: Turmoil

Turmoil, the fifth expansion to Terraforming Mars, takes players back to Mars, and the struggle for control and progress of human society on a big and dangerous planet.

The expansion includes new corporations, new projects, and a new type of cards — Global Events, from dust storms to riots to rising alloy demand — that give you something to plan for 3 generations in advance.

At the heart of this is the political arena of the Terraforming Committee. A new action allows players to add delegates to different parties, the first delegate each generation being free, and additional ones costing 5 MC. Neutral delegates are added by the global events, representing the wishes and trends of society.
When a player(even the neutral player) has more delegates in a party than any other player, that player takes over the party leader seat for that party, and when a party has more delegates than any other party, it becomes dominant. The dominant party will become ruling during the next generation, imposing its one-time bonus, its ongoing policy, and granting chairmanship for its party leader, awarding that player 1 terraform rating.

Party: Bonus: Policy:
Kelvinist 1MC/heat production 10MC -> 1 heat production + 1 energy production
Scientist 1MC/science tag 10MC -> draw 3 cards (once per player)
Unity 1MC/planet tag Titanium is worth +1MC
Mars First 1MC/building tag Placing a tile on Mars gives 1 steel
Greens 1MC/biological tag placing a greenery tile gives 4MC
Reds 1TR for the lowest player Increasing TR in the action phase costs +3MC

The political arena also determines the players’ influence, which can be used to moderate or enhance the effect of the current global event. Influence is gained from being the chairman of the Committee, being party leader in the dominant party, and for having a non-leader delegate in the dominant party.
In order to pay for all these new bonuses, the Committee is revising the terraform rating, lowering it for all players by 1 step each generation.

In Turmoil, players can try to force their own agenda, or push it in a more moderate, economic way. They can play to mitigate the global events with influence, or adjust their play to better take advantage of them. And they can anticipate the competing players’ agendas and try to benefit from them, or counteract them.

Turmoil is an expert expansion – be prepared to meet the full spectrum of human civilization in the era of terraforming Mars!
