The Lone Wolf Adventure Game

You race through the tangled forest, chased by a mob of vicious Giaks. Somewhere in the distance a pack of Doomwolves howls. Up ahead you can hear the roar of the waterfall, cutting off your path.

What do you do next?”

In The Lone Wolf Adventure Game you decide!

In The Lone Wolf Adventure Game you are Kai Lords – brave and noble warrior-monks sworn to protect the realm of Sommerlund from the evil of the Darklords – adventuring across the world of Magnamund. You and your friends will face terrifying enemies and uncover fiendish plots, working together to overcome the wicked plans of the Darklords and emerge victorious!

The game is playable right out of the box – you can be setting off on your first adventure within minutes of opening the box. The game is easy to learn too, the first adventure teaching you how to play.

As you grow in experience, additional features can be added in to give the game additional depth. There are a bunch of these included in the boxed set, and more will be included in forthcoming supplements. Experienced gamers can dive right in with all the options included, while new gamers can tailor the learning curve to their group.

The game’s setting of Magnamund will be familiar to millions, for it is the setting for Joe Dever’s best-selling Lone Wolf game books. Here the forces of good and evil fight for control of the world, chief amongst them Kai (God of the Sun) and Naar (God of Darkness).

In the northern land of Sommerlund, it has been the custom for many centuries to send the sons and daughters of the Warrior Lords to the monastery of Kai. There they are taught the skills and disciplines of their noble fathers.
Kai Training 14and15

The Kai Lords are masters of their art, and the young people in their charge love and respect them in spite of the hardships of their training. For one day when they have finally learnt the secret skills of the Kai, they will be equipped in mind and body to defend themselves against the constant threat of war from the Darklords of Helgedad.
Kai Wisdom 90 and 91

The Lone Wolf Adventure Game takes the Lone Wolf game books as the inspiration for its system. At its simplest is the Initiate-level game, which keeps the mechanics to a minimum to allow new players to easily pick them up.

More experienced players can up the complexity with the Master-level game, which provides a variety of options that can be added slowly, or all at once. These include a more complex combat system, more character options and Kai’s favour, a currency for helping you succeed at tasks.

Tests are resolved by picking a random number, either by flicking a token at the random number chart printed inside the box lid or by rolling a one-sided die. Normally, if a 6 or higher is picked, the test is success; more difficult tests require higher numbers, and bonuses can be gained from Kai disciplines and, in the Master-level game, by using skills and traits too.
