Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs (Restock Available Now!)

Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs is a solo play game, with an original campaign story written by Isaac Childres, that features a playstyle similar to Gloomhaven in a fraction of the size.

Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs is set after the events of Gloomhaven and Forgotten Circles. The Aesther recluse Hail has earned a reputation for being highly instrumental in saving the city from recurring disasters, and she absolutely hates it. Wannabe heroes are constantly barging in on her studies at the Crooked Bone, looking for help in becoming famous themselves — not to mention all the demons that come by looking for vengeance. She briefly considered moving, but as that would require effort, she instead just placed an enchantment on her front door: Anyone who attempts to open it becomes miniaturized and therefore is no longer a problem.

Your character is one such wannabe hero. In an ill-advised attempt at fame, they try to visit Hail, and poof. Now they’re the size of a mouse and have entered an entirely different realm of lawlessness and self-preservation. They must find a new way into the Crooked Bone to convince Hail to return them to their previous size.

Each scenario is a single card, pitting one mercenary against a handful of enemies with simplified actions and AI. Each mercenary has a hand of just four double-sided cards, but they can be used twice — both the front and the back — before they are discarded. Attacks are resolved using a die in conjunction with a modifier table, and both the table and the mercenary ability cards can be improved as you level up throughout the campaign.

Nocturne (Available Now!)

Nocturne is a puzzly spatial bidding and set collection game of sly mystics set in a whimsical moonlit forest illustrated by Beth Sobel!

In Nocturne, you play as a fox mystic casting magic spells to collect an assortment of enchanted items. You compete against rival mystics, each of you deciding when to cast the most powerful spells to move through the forest most cunningly to secure the best collection. Each turn you decide which items are most valuable to you and when to hold the other mystics back.

Through two rounds (twilight and moonlight), players compete to collect the strongest sets of magical items like firebird feathers, creature skulls, glowing mushrooms, mysterious eggs, and rare herbs. These items have value when collected in specific sets, but can also be combined to fulfill recipes needed for concoctions, scoring you even more prestige!

Each round you begin with a set of numbered tokens that represent your spell strengths. These tokens are used to cast spells and bid on a grid of items (and special actions) on the forest floor. Once you cast a spell, your rival mystics will have an opportunity to cast a more powerful spell onto an adjacent item, hoping to compel it towards them and prevent you from collecting what you need! As the forest is explored, different conditions of magical control will restrict pathways, leading to strategic situations in which players can “corner cast” and secure multiple items with less powerful spells. If your spell casting comes up short, you can always make an offering to the forest sprites, magical mice that have their own cache of treasures they may share with you, giving you further options to expand your collection.

The set-up of the forest grid and twilight and moonlight goals, along with concoction cards and special player abilities in each game, provide great variability so that no two games of Nocturne will play out the same. Different spatial goals and situations will necessitate different strategies and tactics to outwit your opponents in this highly interactive and unique spatial bidding game!

Platinum Edition Also Available!

Ticket to Ride Iberia & South Korea (Available Now!)

Ticket to Ride Map Collection 8: Iberia & South Korea gives you the chance to set up rail networks on two peninsulas with wildly different settings.

On the Iberian peninsula, players start the game by drafting six destination cards, then keeping four of them — a process they repeat before the train deck runs out the first time. While you’re trying to fulfill those eight destination cards with only 35 trains, you can possibly pick up festival cards along the way. The deck is seeded with 54 festival cards, and when one is drawn, you place it next to the city on the game board. If you build a route that connects to one or two cities with festival cards, you choose one of those cities and collect all of the festival cards near it. The more you collect from a city, the more they’re worth at game’s end!

In South Korea, you start the game as in Iberia by drafting six destination cards, then keeping four of them. All of the routes are grouped by color: blue in the northeast, yellow in the northwest, and so on. When you claim a route, you can also place one of your trains on the province mat on an empty space of the matching color showing the number of cards you played of that color; you can play more cards than required to claim a route should you want to place on a higher number. Additionally, each player has a set of “express train” cards (+1, +2, +3), and you can spend a card on your turn to either draw more train cards, draw more destination tickets, or claim a higher number on the province mat. At game’s end, evaluate each color on the province mat, with the player (or players) with the highest sum of values claimed earning bonus points.

Night Cage: The Shrieking Hollow Expansion (Available Now!)

Can your light hold back what waits in the dark?

Shrieking Hollow is an expansion to Smirk and Dagger’s atmospheric and wildly popular cooperative, horror-themed tile placement game, The Night Cage. 1-5 lost souls still wander the otherwordly labyrinth of eternal darkness, but the expansion adds a new threat and a new space to explore. Pits now connect Prisoners to the Hollow, where The Other lies in wait, a monster with the ability to smother half the board in darkness. Over the course of play, The Other will rise up out of the Hollow and attack the Prisoners, destroying any part of the maze it encounters.

If the Prisoners are brave, they can leap into a Pit and fall to the bottom of the Hollow where the dim light of their candles will hold its advance, temporarily. However, they can’t hold it back forever, and Prisoners that stay too close to The Other will be attacked when it lurches toward the flickering light it despises.

The Search for UAPs (Available Now!)

The past one hundred years has brought many sightings of unidentified flying objects. While this has often been credited to the sci-fi craze of the mid 20th century, recent sightings by respected members of the military and captured video show that something is out there that we can’t quite identify. The search is on to discover and fully document this phenomena so that we may understand more about it.

The Search for UAPS is a game about this real-world search. You are astronomy enthusiasts, and you’ve recently seen something in your evening stargazing that you can’t explain. Using your telescope, camera, and computer research, you’re trying to track down this Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) to help the global scientific community gain a better understanding of what’s out there. While UAPs have been spotted all over the world, you’ll be focusing on the edge of space, where it is possible that these objects might be.

Deduction fans will enjoy new gameplay elements such as variable quantities of objects, analyzing satellites, and major new twists, such as rotating orbits that result in continually changing placement and adjacency. Objects can be next to something, above it, below it, in the same quadrant from it, or even directly across from it. As the Earth rotates, the options continue to expand! Search for and take pictures of satellites, the International Space Station, or the Hubble Telescope to help you track down mysterious UAPs!

Pathfinder Arena (Available Now!)

Pathfinder Arena is a competitive board game set in the Pathfinder RPG’s “Age of Lost Omens” setting. Monsters and heroes clash in four stages of challenges in a labyrinth. In each stage, the number and power of the monsters increase, while heroes level up and gather resources to gain new skills, magic spells, equipment, and the deities’ favor.

Pathfinder Arena will feature high-detail miniatures of the most iconic monsters of Pathfinder, along with its greatest heroes. The monsters summoned in the labyrinth never leave their spot, but the labyrinth shape is dynamic, and players can change it by moving the board’s tiles. Monsters can then be used to attack other players, in the end leaving only one winner.

Finca (Available Now!)

Finca was originally published in 2009 and was considered a holy grail in its time. It has been out of print for a few years and we’re excited to bring it back with brand new art, streamlined gameplay, and a fifth player!

Mallorca, Island of the Wind. A place of golden beaches and a light-blue sea. The almond harvest is at hand, in addition, juicy oranges, lemons, and figs are ready to be picked and taken to the market. Gather as many of Mallorca’s resources as possible and deliver them to the island’s communities. Their requests are constantly changing, so be sure to get your donkey carts ready to deliver! Resources are collected using a mancala-like mechanic and a clever system is implemented that discourages players from hoarding.

Wilmot’s Warehouse (Available Now!)

In Wilmot’s Warehouse, your team will work co-operatively to organize the warehouse, using memory, imagination, and silly stories you make up.

Draw product tiles from the stack, discuss what they look like, and place them somewhere you’ll remember. After you place each tile, you flip it over and can’t look at it again until the end of the game, so your team has to remember where you’ve placed previous tiles as you decide where to place new ones.

At the end of the game, in a five-minute rush, your team has to match all 35 face-down tiles with customer cards. Consult your performance review to see how well you did!

Nusfjord – Big Box (Available Now!)

Nusfjord is a tranquil fishing village in the Lofoten archipelago in northern Norway. Fifty years ago, business was blooming when the codfish would come for spawning. Today, Nusfjord is more of a museum than a village, with less than a hundred people living there. Imagine how beautiful this place must be given that you must pay a fee to even look at the houses. Cruise ships used to pass by this long and now mostly abandoned island world.

In the time period in which the game Nusfjord is set, things looked quite different. Sailing ships dominate the fjord. The rocks around Nusfjord are covered in trees. As the owner of a major fishing company in Nusfjord on the Lofoten archipelago, your goal is to develop the harbor and the surrounding landscape, and to succeed you must enlarge your fleet, clear the forest, erect new buildings, and satisfy the local elders. Others do this as well, of course, so the competition is steep.

As with Agricola and Ora et LaboraNusfjord has a worker placement mechanism, with each player starting with three workers that they place on a central board to trigger certain actions. Whether a player wants to clear a forest on their own board, buy a new cutter, or construct a building, they must place a worker on the appropriate space — which is possible only if room is available for this worker. Money is scarce, and one of the quicker and easier ways to get it is to place shares of your own company on the market. This risky action could be worthwhile because if you succeed in buying these shares yourself, you have usually won money and not suffered any disadvantages; however, if an opponent acquires these shares, then you must allow them to benefit from your hard-earned catches at sea. The village elders might want their own share of your catch as well, especially if you’ve visited them to take certain actions in the village, so if you don’t take care, your catch could end up entirely in the hands of others and your camp will be empty.

Nusfjord Big Box contains the Nusfjord base game, two previously released expansions (Plaice deck and Salmon deck), and two new expansions (Trout deck and Besoekende deck), along with extra components, among them new guest meeples.

Yaxha (Available Now!)

Recreate the Mayan pyramids on your tabletop in Yaxha, three blocks at a time.

To set up, place as many market tiles on the table as the number of players, and give each player a hand of cards that match the color of the market tiles. Deal each player a turn order card at random, then place three bonus cards on the table, whether randomly or by choice.

In each of the ten rounds, fill all market tiles by drawing three blocks at a time from the bag. Blocks come in five colors. All players simultaneously choose and reveal a card showing a market tile. If all players chose different market tiles, everyone takes the blocks from their chosen tile; if not, the tied player with the lowest turn order card takes their chosen blocks, while other tied players choose from what’s left unclaimed, after which players exchange turn order cards.

Use the blocks to create a pyramid bit by bit. All blocks must touch one another as you build. The bottom layer of the pyramid will be four blocks wide and long, and once you have four blocks in a 2×2 arrangement, you can place a block on top of these four blocks — but only if it’s touching a block of the same color, whether below it or next to it. If you can’t place a block, you must discard it. If you don’t discard anything, you’ll end up with a four-level pyramid of thirty blocks.

At game’s end, you score points for the largest visible group in your pyramid of each color. (Some blocks might be hidden, and they don’t score.) In addition, for each bonus card that you satisfy — for example, having the most yellow blocks, having all five colors visible on the second layer of your pyramid, having the second largest group of blocks regardless of color — you score 5 points. Whoever has the highest score wins.

In Flatiron, you will be transported to the Big Apple to participate in the construction of this iconic building. Both you and your opponent will need to develop your companies by adding new cards to your personal board, thereby allowing you to perform more and better actions on each of the surrounding streets. The ultimate goal is to earn more points than your opponent, primarily by undertaking construction tasks but also by maintaining an impeccable public image and adhering to the decrees of the New York City Council. When the roof is placed, and everything is ready for the grand opening, the game ends. Victory and recognition will go only to the player who has accumulated the most points.

Codis Naturalis (Available Now!)

In CODEX Naturalis, you must continue the work of the illuminating monk Tybor Kwelein, assembling the pages of a manuscript that lists the living species in primary forests. Can you put the pages together in the best order possible? And are you prepared to sacrifice a species to develop your manuscript?

In the game, each player starts with a single card on the table, a card that shows some combination of the four possible resources in the middle of the card, in the corners of the card, or both. Players also have two resource cards and one gold card in hand, while two of each type of card are visible on the table.

On a turn, you place a card from your hand overlapping the corners of one or more cards you already have in play. Your starting card has four overlappable corners, while resource and gold cards have only three.

  • Resource cards have no cost to be played, and they often depict resource symbols in their corners.
  • Gold cards deliver points when played, but they often have a resource requirement, e.g., three fungi or two plant/one animal/one insect, and you must have those resources visible in your manuscript at the time you play the gold card. You score points from this card immediately, with some cards having a fixed value and others a variable one depending on how many of a certain symbol are showing or how many corners you covered this turn.

If you wish, you can play a card from your hand face down; such a card has four corners and one resource, but provides no points. After you play, draw a face-up card or the top card of either deck to refill your hand.

When a player reaches 20 points, you complete the round, and each player takes one additional turn. Players then score points based on how well they matched two public objective cards and one secret objective card, after which the player with the most points wins.
